Hi everyone - I hope all of you are doing great and planning a fantastic summer. Speaking of summer, I have a fun summer assignment for you! We were out of town recently and took a picture sitting next to Ronald McDonald and a picture sitting in a giant chair in Squaw Valley. We also took a picture of us knitting while floating on an air mattress in a pool. We came up with the idea that when you are on your vacation this summer you should have pictures taken of yourself knitting in unusual places. Then this fall I could do a whole bulletin board of "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" pictures. Fun huh!! Go for it!

Midnight Free For All - Our midnight knit is once a month on a Friday night. For those of you that don't know about it - We get together and knit and visit until midnight. You are welcome to bring a snack to share if you would like, but we have no real rules. Just come, get to know other knitters (we also have people that crochet, weave & spin) and have a good time. If you don't get there first you might want to bring a lawn chair or pillow to sit on. Try it, you'll like it. May's date is the 8th and June is the 5th.

Shawl Contest - And the winner is (insert drumroll here) -- April !! Congratulations!

New Contests - It is time to start our projects for the fair, so I'm here to help! I am sponsoring two categories at the Humboldt County Fair this year - the first one is *Any other knitted wearable item not listed, and the other is *Any original design - each category has a $25 gift certificate for the prize. Sooooo here is the plan - I will have two store contests, both due at the end of June, and each with a $25 gift certificate for the winner. That way you will still have plenty of time to enter them in the August fair. My only rule is that you have to buy the yarn specifically for these projects (tell me when you buy the yarn that it is for the contest). I have last year's fair catalog at the store so that you can see the categories. OK, ready, set, go!

Beginning Crochet Class - We finally a found a crochet teacher! So many of you have been wanting to get started crocheting, and now is the time. Renee is going to start with the basics and go from there. She will start out with the basic stitches and how to read a pattern so that we can actually use those stitches. I say "we" because I am taking the class too. I can do some stitches but I can't even begin to read the patterns. Renee will be at the store Sat. May 9th and 23rd and June 13th. The class is $20 and you can attend any or all of the classes for that one price.

Felted Duck - I made up the felted duck kit and it turned out so cute, you have to come in and see it. I carry the kit (and also a kit for a dog, rabbit and bear) in the store. I will be happy to get you started and give you any help you might need - It is really a great project - once you get going, the sky's the limit. Sheifa wants to make a needle felted VW bug - we'll see!

Weaverville Creative Escape - Our getaway is scheduled for July 24th, 25th & 26th.
We only have a couple of spots left so if you are planning to go you need to make your deposit now. Check under upcoming events on my web page for a schedule of info & prices or you can come in and pick up an information sheet at the store. We always have soooo much fun - What's not to love - you spend 3 days and two nights doing any or all crafts you like, or swimming or eating or shopping or playing games or doing mini classes or--------you get the idea, it's just to much fun. This is really one thing you don't want to miss.

Pony Express Kickoff Mixer - Azalea Realty is hosting a mixer at Bella Vista Plaza on May 21st from 5pm - 7pm, & we have been invited to join in. The Mack High Steel Drum Band will be there performing, the bank is supposed have one of those big bouncy things for the kids. The real estate office is having a barbecue, the nail salon is going to have hors d'oeuvres and we'll have some dessert. Pretty fun huh?! Come on down and join us.

We are starting our Summer Hours the 1st of May - everything is the same except we are only open until 6:00 on Tues.

We will be Closed Saturday, May 23rd for Memorial Day - but open again at our regular time on the 26th.
