Handmade Memories Newsletter

June 2010

Well, here goes - This is Handmade Memories' last official newsletter!!!! First of all, I want to thank all of you for being such wonderful customers and friends. The last nine and a half years have been soooo much fun. My husband and I are going to practice our retirement. He still has a few years until he retires but we decided that we should slow down a little and play a little more. The only thing that I hated was having to close the shop, but instead the good news is April is going to buy the store. Now I will be able to see everyone all of the time just like before. April is going to let me work sometimes and help her out until she gets used to everything. I am so excited for both of us!

New Owner / New Name - Handmade Memories' last official day will be June 9th to give April time to get things ready for Knitters Lane which will open on June 15th at the same time and place. April is planning a big Grand Opening party on the 15th and she will be staying open until 9:00 so that you will all have time to come join the party. She is planning door prizes and refreshments.

The Yarn Of The Month - Some things will change and some things will stay the same. The yarn of the month is one of those things. April is planning to continue to have the yarn of the month. Each month there is a special yarn on sale and a sample of the yarn knitted up. You never know what it is going to be - but it's a terrific deal so you are going to want to come see what it is each month, and get a great deal on a great yarn.

Midnight Free For All - The last Midnight Free For All will be June 4th. Here's what happens - once a month we all get together and sit and visit and knit, crochet or work on whatever needle work you want to do. Some of us stay until midnight, but you are welcome to come and go as you please. Feel free to bring a snack to share if you would like (or not - we don't have many rules.) Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend………. OK, so the basic idea will stay the same but - well how do I say this - April is a lightweight!! A 13-hour day is a bit much for her so she is changing the name to Friday Night Knit Nite and only staying open until 10:00.

Weaverville - Despite other changes - Weaverville, of course, will be the same as every year - way too much fun!!! April is letting me be in charge so I still get to have all the fun of organizing everything

This year's Creative Escape is planned for the 23rd, 24th & 25th of July so now is the time to make your final plans for Weaverville.

If you have gone before, you already know how much fun it is, and if you haven't, trust me, you will love it. Every year we take an opportunity to get out of the coastal fog and spend a weekend in Weaverville in July. We go to the Weaverville Victorian Inn on Friday afternoon and stay until Sunday afternoon. The all-inclusive price covers your room, an 8' table in the conference room, goodie bag, snacks, beverages, games, prizes, mini classes & and a ton of fun. It also includes all meals: Starting Friday night with dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch & dinner and Sunday's brunch. You can take any craft projects you would like to work on and leave it set up in the conference room all weekend. You are welcome to stay up as late as you would like in the conference room. We are next to the pool so you can take a dip anytime and of course if you would like to shop, there is beautiful downtown Weaverville. You can feel free to join in all or none of the activities as you please. We are just there for fun. The cost of the weekend varies depending how many people share a room. Some people like their own room and others like to share a room and save money since they aren't really in their room all that much.

Room Price
One person per room - $275 each
Two people per room - $225 each
Three people per room - $190 each
Four people per room - $175 each

I have my reservation list started so if you are planning on going to Weaverville please let me know as soon as possible, so we can reserve your spot. We have room for 20 people so start getting your friends together for this great getaway

April's Newsletter - April will be starting her own newsletter to keep you up on the latest news, but for now - make sure you come in for the Grand Opening on June 15th and support Knitters Lane. April has lots of fun ideas coming up!!!!

Oh, one more thing - would you bring any outstanding Gift Certificates in asap so that we can cash them in before Handmade Memories turns into Knitters Lane? We would appreciate it. Thanks

April's web page will be www.knitterslane.com
Her email is knitterslane@suddenlinkmail.com
